Albums

Toto's discography includes 13 studio albums and four live albums. There are also compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The band has won multiple Grammy Awards for their work.

Before Toto was formed The members of the band played session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to formation of Toto in 1976.

Turn Back, Toto's third studio album, was criticized by critics due to lacking hit singles. In 1985 the singer Fergie Frederiksen quit the group, and the band held auditions to find the new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the album Fahrenheit in 1986.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several old demos and tapes to release a special record called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans, and Toto embarked on an extensive tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

Shem von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as drummer during the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.

Toto is a rock band from the US that was formed in Van Nuys in Greater Los Angeles in 1977. Toto has released a variety of music videos. The group has also released numerous compilation videos and DVDs. The most watched video by the group is "Africa" which has more than one billion views on YouTube. The video is set in a library, where the band performs on top of the stack of African books.

The song "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. The song was written by band members and was produced by David Paich. It was a big hit in Europe and other countries. The single's success helped Toto gain popularity following their previous album, Turn Back, failed to chart in the United States.

Following the release of the album, Toto went on a world tour. The group included touring musicians Lenny Castro, Shannon Forrest, Warren Ham and Shem von Schroeck. Steve Lukather also released his second solo record, Luke.

In 1985, Fergie Frederiksen, Toto's drummer, left the group for personal reasons. Toto held an audition to find the replacement for Frederiksen.

The album also included an original cover of Weezer's song "Hash Pipe" which the band decided to add after hearing the song on the radio.
